Our program for the school-age student is designed for the dynamic, ever-changing needs of today's active children. This program emphasizes a safe, organized, and supervised environment that is responsive to the interests and developmental needs of your school-age child. During school holidays and summer months, we offer a full-day schedule, rich in hands-on activities and field trips.
A summer camp program is offered during the summer months for children of all ages. The camp is built around weekly themes. Activities include various art projects, music activities, water fun, sports, stories, cooking, theater and field trips. A separate summer program fee is generally charged to help cover transportation cost. Throughout the summer there are usually three or four field trips per week. The children go on trips that help them learn about the world around them and then they come home and journal about all of their experiences. The trips range from museums, movies, nature trails and visits to local businesses to more extraordinary trips to the Imax and state zoo.
Children who are exposed to foreign language at a younger age have a much easier time learning and understanding it. Studies have proven that students who study a foreign language earn higher standardized test scores and better grades in school. People who know Spanish are also at an advantage when it comes to finding a job.
Through games, songs, and other fun activities, your child will learn the basics of Spanish. Hopefully this will develop their interest in the many cultures of the community and world. It is our hope to bring the world to them in the comfort of a classroom environment and teach them a bit about culture and the world around them.
"I Pledge my Head to clearer thinking, my Heart to greater loyalty, my Hands to larger service, and my Health to better living, for my club, my community, my country, and my world."
The mission of the 4-H Club is to empower youth to reach their fullest potential by working and learning in partnership with caring adults. The 4-H club of Higher Learning Child Care Academy is open to 6-12 year old children. Although the club is hosted by the academy, it is open to any child wishing to participate. Our club operates year-round with meetings being held at least three times a month. Within the club the children are given the opportunity to learn: gardening, arts and sketching, basket weaving, astronomy, astrology, horticulture, and science. Our 4-H Club also welcomes parent volunteers.
Housed in every Higher Learning center is a music teacher with a program targeted directly towards young developing minds. It is our mission to offer a quality music program that will enrich the lives of children through education and entertainment while empowering them to be creative, utilizing their individual talents in a uniquely designed presentation of music that can be enjoyed and retained.
Gymnastics/Karate at the academy encourages physical activity. The focus of both of these classes is fun, safety, and personal progress. These classes develop strength, coordination, and flexibility. Upon meeting the demanding physical and mental challenges, children see that the harder they try, the more they learn.
